about
This track was written with my good friend, Randy Ritz and originally released to the public on his Dr. Blu album in 2014 called Dirty Lens. However I'd always loved the feel and spirit of our original 2008 version. Kelly Stickel has lovingly re-engineered and re-mastered the tune here, and we couldn't be more pleased with the result. The lyric takes a look at life, how we somehow seem to continually screw it up, and yet, thanks to God's unlimited mercy and with His help, we get to pick ourselves back up and start over again. Not just my story, but for my kids and grandkids- all of us, as long as we live here on this earth.
lyrics
Start Over Again
So sentimental. That's what I'm feeling right now.
Look back where I came from, and see where I'm standing right now.
If I could start over - roll back the years somehow,
I wonder would anything change?
If I could go back there again and start over, yeah.
I'm caught up here in a moment. See now, I'm thinking out loud.
I can be so helpless, and yet be so stubborn and proud.
I don't understand it, but Lord knows, one thing I've found:
There's nothing that God doesn't see.
His Mercy is all that I need to start over again.
I watch the years roll by, and I watch the circle turn.
My own children, they facing similar concerns.
Every generation got their own lessons to learn.
They'll stumble and fall, just like me
But they'll find out He's all that they need.
They'll stumble and fall, just like me
But they'll find out He's all that they need
To start over again.

Many, many thanks to the players and artists who so generously contributed to make this song live. Much appreciated!
Stickel & Son consists of the father and son duo of Garry and Kelly Stickel. Garry does the writing and singing; Kelly is
the creative and technical genius who brings these songs to life. Born and raised in Alberta, their rural Alberta roots go deep. Both have lived and travelled extensively throughout the province and this experience flavours everything that they do....more
Really love the honesty in the story-telling, and the simplicity of arrangement and production in telling those stories. Favourite tracks are Just Enough Empties and What to Keep. Stickel & Son
Great album by my good friend and "blues buddy" Dr. Blu. Garry co-wrote and sang on two tracks: Never the Same and Start Over Again. Great job by all the players, writers and common friends. Stickel & Son
The slashing roots rock on “Out On the Line” always makes its way to the kind of triumphant chorus that quickens the pulse. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 2, 2023
